FQXi Collaborative Mini-Grants for Information as Fuel RFP - Application - Open to NOI Applicants Only

FQXi is now accepting Collaborative Mini-Grants for the Information as Fuel RFP program.

Through this Collaborative Mini-Grants program, applicants may apply for up to $2,000 travel funds to support efforts between research groups to prepare a collaborative Initial Proposal for the Information as Fuel (IaF) RFP. FQXi expects to award grants ranging from $500,000 to $2,500,000 through the IaF program, with a total giving of up to $8,000,000. Given the large size of the grants, we will have a very small pool of awardees compared to our traditional grant rounds. This will thus be a highly-competitive grant round and we urge all applicants to try to assemble the most effective team possible (even if not at a single institution) to develop a compelling proposal for a high-impact project.

This grant round is funded through the Foundational Questions Institute and the Templeton World Charity Foundation’s collaboration.

  • Applications will be accepted from NOI applicants only, and must be submitted by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time, Monday, February 4, 2019.

The funds can be paid to the individual or an institute, whichever party paid for the application prep meetings expenses.

  • Selections for the Collaborative Mini-Grant will be made as follows: Half the funds will be distributed on a rolling first-come-first-serve basis, and half by lottery amongst all applications in by the deadline, all subject to screening for appropriateness to the program.

  • Applicants will be notified by email of the Collaborative Mini-Grant results.

  • All funds must be spent before the Information as Fuel initial proposal deadline of March 31, 2019.
