yes, at least operate 'as if' on a plane of time (this is important to the topic here of Time with a capital "T"). this is consistent with my own experience, the experience of a number of people i know and with a large volume of experimental evidence. however, this plane seems to have a curious feature. the idea of a 'plane' suggests distances which involve greater time to get to the greater distances. in consciousness, all points on the plane appear to be no real distance away - that is, it doesn't appear to necessarily take consciousness any longer to get to any 'distant' point on the 'time plane' than it takes to get to points 'near' on the 'time plane'.

there is a suggestion that there is no real limit to the 'distance' accessible by consciousness on this temporal 'plane', but experimental verification becomes somewhat problematic for obvious reasons.

i know of at least one experiment where the test subject had acquired information about the location target, but had apparently accessed the site in an unintended time, some 50 years earlier, and described features which were no longer there. verification of the accuracy of the observations didn't arrive for an additional 20 years, when photos of the target location from an earlier time surfaced and showed the missing features which had been accurately described (two wooden water storage tanks on wooden towers), after the test subject had died (making no direct physical access ever available to the test subject regarding the information he had acquired about the site). that's the longest running verifiable experimental time span for anomalous data acquisition that i'm aware of - covering a span of some 70 years (the feature that the test subject could never have had direct access to the information is, to the best of my knowledge, a unique piece of information, of particular interest. but that's for a past event (ref: Miracles of Mind, Russell Targ and Jand Katra, © 1998, pgs. 42, 43). i don't personally know what the time span record for verified accurate precognition is, but spontaneous impressions tend to be within a couple of days of the event, while a year in advance is not terribly uncommon if one is actually keeping track of impressions and remember them when the event arrives).

it has been found that a relaxed, passive state, both physically and mentally, with minimized distractions presents optimal conditions for this sort of cognition. while sleeping is most optimal for precognition, it is not particularly optimal for getting to actually keep the data and make it available for access by conscious awareness.

acquisition of information through anomalous cognition appears to be, if not a function of, at least certainly mediated by what we usually call the subconscious. it has it's own language. it doesn't work well with words. abstract concepts like political boundaries or numbers are a challenge for it and presents the information in what is often poetically simple imagery. there is no sensory preference, unlike consciousness, and information may be presented in any sensory form. where literal imagery is possible, this can indeed emerge with remarkable accuracy and detail.

a significant challenge is the tendency of our conscious awareness to ascribe significances - 'interpret' the input. this frequently leads to errors (data: 'i see a large arch', interpretational overlay - 'it must be mcdonalds', actual object is indeed an arch, a commemorative structure located in St. Louis and not the 'golden arches' of mcdonalds. final output just reporting data: "arch". final output with imaginative overlay: "mcdonalds". independent judges are given a picture of task target in St. Louis and the final output data... "arch"-a match. "mcdonalds"-a miss).

...a passive state. just try to note impressions as they come, without trying to make sense of it as the info comes in. if you find yourself thinking "that's just too strange, unlikely...", i'd recommend making a note of it. 'unusual' and 'unlikely' tend to be hallmarks of external data emerging in the field of your 'normal' thought patterns. being aware of this, it may take some practice to avoid actively 'going looking' for the unusual and to remain a passive, objective spectator in the process.

it's challenging to resist the 'mental radio' image. perhaps 'time waves' of some sort, but certainly not electromagnetic in any form we presently know. extensive shielding experiments have been conducted which rule this out. if anything, shielding form radiation tends to augment the process.

there is one curious observation that the sidereal time of 13:30 hrs appears optimal, with a 400% spike in anomalous cognition performance around that time. sidereal time is based on the earth's position relative to our local galaxy, rather than the sun. a sidereal day is a few minutes shorter than a solar day and this time drifts backward through the standard 24 hrs.

noting also that spontaneous precognition appears to have a bit to do with the amount of energy in an event, physically and/or in terms of subjective levels of excitation the event might result in. it seems to be what draws our attention, sort of like sitting quietly at home when, say, the gradual increase in sound of a low flying helicopter outside might distract us, draw our conscious attention once it reaches a certain threshold, cause us to shift what we are focused on.

noting also that it is quite likely that precognition is significantly more wide-spread than realized, that average people likely have these experiences regularly, but don't pay much attention to them and with the delay between perception and the event, have forgotten the perception before feedback arrives; the gap results in a failure to recognize associations and make a conscious connection. the feedback loop that happens in very short term events that typically is the source of conscious awareness of association doesn't form with the time lag of a couple of days or more. thus, most people remain unaware of their innate ability.

if anything, it appears to support the notion of "free will". while the fact that there will always be only one set of events at any given time/space coordinate instance affords for the possibility of something to have a precognition of and as such appears to be predetermined, there are some suggestions that previewed events can be at least somewhat altered/mitigated (much as in if one were to receive intelligence regarding a planned terrorist attack, actions might be able to be taken to change the plan and thus the future). to completely prevent an event would leave nothing to have a precognitive experience of (though this may be possible and the precognition would be deemed erroneous), but for it to occur with 'no harm done' is a happy ending.

there is some evidence indicating that the past is not actually entirely immutable and can similarly be changed in subtle ways also.

all of this has some very significant implications for how we think about time, both theoretically and in our day to day lives. it also suggests that there are significant shortcomings in every extant physical modeling system presently in use; precognition cannot be accommodated in any of them.
